The interactive fiction studio

Build worlds people can walk through.

Author the world — let AI bring it to life.

Storyforge is a browser-based studio for building rich, explorable adventure games. You design the world; AI illustrates every scene, polishes your prose, and voices your characters in real time. Then anyone can play it in a browser.

No install. Nothing to download. No code.

What it is

Storyforge turns an idea into a playable world. In a visual, tabbed editor you lay out locations on a compass map, populate them with characters and objects, and wire up the rules that make it a game — puzzles, skill checks, inventory, secrets, endings. As you build, AI does the heavy lifting: generating scene and character artwork in a consistent style, expanding a one-line note into vivid prose, and — at play time — letting players actually talk to your characters and ask the narrator questions, with a deterministic engine keeping every save honest.

🗺

Design the world, visually

A map-based editor with 8-direction compass navigation and nested places — a room inside a building inside a city. Add characters with schedules, objects you can take, combine, or hide behind locks, and interaction rules with conditions and consequences. No scripting — it's all builders and toggles.

AI does the craft-labor

Scene & character art generated in a consistent visual style (with reference images so your world stays coherent). Prose embellishment that turns “cold stone cellar” into a paragraph that raises the hairs on your arms. And live, in-character dialogue plus an “ask the narrator” mode — that never spoils locked secrets.

Real mechanics, not just branching text

Inventory with carry limits and stackable items, light sources for dark places, D20-style skill checks, health and survival resources, time-of-day and sleep, timed world events, flags and gating, multiple win/lose endings, achievements, and code-lock puzzles — all on a deterministic engine with reliable save & resume.
🎭

Atmosphere you control to the detail

Per-scene weather and effects (mist, rain, embers, lightning, aurora), character-by-character text reveals (typewriter, glitch, cipher & more), music and ambient sound that react to game state, and full theming — color schemes, typography, and fonts assignable per area.

Play & share

Games run in any browser and live in a shared library presented as books on a shelf — complete with AI-written cover blurbs, star ratings, and save-and-resume. Optional age-gating and content ratings keep the right stories with the right players.
